About Us
Dr. Hewitt was born in Washington, DC and grew up on Florida’s Gulf coast. He attended the University of Florida, where he received his Bachelor’s degree in microbiology and his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. After graduating veterinary school in 1990, he moved to Las Vegas and has been practicing in Las Vegas continuously since then. After working as an associate veterinarian for 9 years and a relief/emergency veterinarian for 1 year, he opened his first practice in January 2000. In 2001 he developed an interest in veterinary dentistry, which rapidly turned into a passion for the field of veterinary dentistry. After extensive continuing education and practice of veterinary dentistry, he started his alternate pathway residency in veterinary dentistry in 2010 and became the first board-certified veterinary dentist® in the state of Nevada full-time in 2018. Until 2023, he was practicing veterinary dentistry out of the hospital that he started in 2000. In 2023, he established the first dedicated full-time veterinary dental practice in Las Vegas… Animal Dental Specialists of Nevada. In addition to practicing companion animal veterinary dentistry, he has been an active participant in a nonprofit organization called the Peter Emily International Veterinary Dental Foundation (PEIVDF) since early 2009. PEIVDF is a group of veterinary dentists, veterinarians, and human dentists that travels nationally and internationally to provide much needed dental care to exotic species in animal sanctuaries. Qualified sanctuaries are provided pro bono veterinary dental care during weekend operations by the foundation. PEIVDF participants are volunteers, paying their own expenses for operations. Dr. Hewitt is currently a staff clinician and a member of the board of directors of PEIVDF.

In addition to his work and volunteer life, he enjoys spending time with his wife, 2 young adult sons, and a varying number of dogs and cats that share his home.
Adriana Regalado, MVZ, DAVDC
Dr. Adriana Regalado is a board-certified veterinary dentist with advanced training in veterinary dentistry, oral surgery, and maxillofacial surgery. Before joining Animal Dental Specialists of Nevada, she held academic roles at Texas A&M University and the University of Pennsylvania, serving as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Texas A&M University’s Small Animal Veterinary Teaching Hospital and as a Lecturer at Penn Vet’s Ryan Veterinary Hospital for Companion Animals.
Dr. Regalado’s professional path has taken her through Mexico, Canada, and the United States, giving her a broad and collaborative perspective on patient care. She earned her veterinary degree from the University of Guadalajara in Mexico, completed additional training for internationally educated veterinarians at the University of Guelph’s Ontario Veterinary College in Canada, and went on to complete a residency program at a veterinary dental specialty practice in Vancouver.
During her residency and later as a Diplomate of the American Veterinary Dental College, which she achieved in 2019, Dr. Regalado-Ibarra had the opportunity to train and collaborate with three experienced board-certified veterinary dentists. That experience shaped her clinical approach and exposed her to a wide range of surgical techniques, treatment philosophies, and ways to manage complex dental and oral surgical cases.
She later completed advanced training in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Pennsylvania and is currently working toward becoming a Fellow in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
With experience in private practice, specialty referral medicine, and university teaching hospitals, Dr. Regalado enjoys working through complex cases that require careful planning, technical precision, and practical decision-making. Her clinical approach is focused on improving comfort, restoring function whenever possible, and helping each patient achieve a better quality of life.
Her clinical interests include advanced oral surgery, minimally invasive surgical techniques, complex extractions, maxillofacial trauma, palatal defects, oral reconstruction, bite abnormalities, and brachycephalic dentistry. She has a particular interest in the use of interim palatal obturators to help selected patients with palatal defects eat and function more comfortably while a long-term treatment plan is developed.
Dr. Regalado-Ibarra is also interested in novel treatment options for uncommon oral and maxillofacial conditions, including the use of botulinum toxin in selected pets affected by masticatory myoclonus, a condition involving involuntary jaw-muscle movements. Beyond surgery, she is passionate about client education, especially helping families understand conditions such as malocclusions, how they can affect comfort and oral health, and why early recognition can make a meaningful difference.
At Animal Dental Specialists of Nevada, Dr. Regalado-Ibarra looks forward to working closely with pet owners, primary care veterinarians, and the local specialty team to provide thoughtful, patient-centred care for pets with complex dental, oral surgical, and maxillofacial needs.
Outside of the clinic, she enjoys fitness, swimming, and long walks with her husband and their two rescue Chihuahuas, Paco and Mando.
